George Dailey Park

George Dailey Park, located in front of Montevallo Middle School, embodies a rich heritage in Montevallo. George Dailey was the first African – American city council member in Montevallo and is credited for beginning the movement for the city council to be elected by districts. Montevallo Middle School was formerly Prentice High School, Montevallo's first and only African – American High School, from 1950-1970. George Dailey was the last principal of this school.

Approximately an acre in size, Dailey Park provides a unique respite and recreation area for children and adults alike. Open sun up to sun down, this park features a pavilion, picnic tables, playground equipment, and benches – the perfect place for special celebrations or a daily stroll.

Plans are currently in the works to make upgrades to the park, including restrooms and upgrading the playground equipment to be ADA accessible.

For more information about reserving the pavilion for a special event, call City Hall at 205-665-2555. Pavilion rentals must be made in person at City Hall, and there may be a cost associated. Reservations for the park are made on a first-come, first-served, basis. Follow this link to complete a park reservation request: Park Reservation Rental Request Form.
