History and Legacy
Founded in 1927, Montevallo Fire & Rescue Service (MFRS) has served the community for nearly a century through a strong tradition of volunteer service.
Emergency Services and Medical Capabilities
MFRS is a licensed ALS department providing fire suppression, rescue services, and emergency medical care.
- Members hold EMS certifications from EMT Basic to Paramedic.
- The department provides advanced prehospital care using modern life-saving equipment.
Training and Professional Development
Training is central to the MFRS mission. Members complete ongoing certification, continuing education, and specialized instruction, with many holding state fire service credentials and decades of experience.
Explorer/Cadet Program
For more than 45 years, the Explorer/Cadet Program has mentored local youth and provided a pathway into volunteer fire and EMS service.
Operations and Community Response
- MFRS operates from two stations with a fleet of engines, rescue units, and support vehicles.
- More than 40 volunteers, officers, and command staff provide emergency responses.
- The department answers about 1,500 calls each year.
