Montevallo Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) was established in 1927 by a group of dedicated citizen volunteers. They gave their personal time, talents, and resources to ensure that our community was provided with high quality fire protection. That tradition has carried on through many generations of volunteers and family lines. MFRS is a licensed Advanced Life Support Emergency Medical Services Department, with many of our members holding EMS Basic, Advanced, and Paramedic licenses.
Education and safety are high priorities for MFRS. Our members routinely participate in Training, and certification courses through the Alabama Fire College are offered to our members on a regular basis. Many of our firefighters hold state certifications as qualified firefighters, apparatus operators and fire officers, to name a few. Our department is also well known for having produced many career firefighters and EMTs.
MFRS operates two stations, three engines, one ladder truck, two rescue trucks, and several support vehicles. Our roster consists of 40+ volunteer firefighters including our Chief and Officers, and we respond to approximately 1,500 in 2021 during COVID. MFRS currently holds a Class 2 I.S.O. rating which translates to excellent fire protection for our citizens as well as reduced insurance rates for home and business owners. Our dedicated volunteers take pride in serving our community.
